Genetic Nutrition Virtual or In Person Visit
1 hour virtual appointment
This service is a multi-step process, but well worth your time and investment.
DNA testing can be the next step in finding the answers you have been searching for regarding health improvement. Food for Life uses the Your Genomic Resource TM DNA saliva test kits to collect your DNA sample. This is a simple test to use. The Food For Life staff is able to help you with any questions using this DNA test kit.
Step 1:
At this time you will make an appointment for about 6 weeks in the future.
The DNA test kit will be mailed to you, the test is completed in the privacy of your own home. Proprietary software is used to interpret your DNA. You will agree to the terms of use, follow the test kit instructions, fill the provided test tube with salvia, and mail the kit to the lab. When the DNA lab results are complete the information will be uploaded automatically into your private file in the proprietary software system. Once mailed, it generally takes 3-6 weeks for the result to upload in the software system.
Step 2:
Prior to your appointment, Barbara R. Gray MS, RDN, LDN will thoroughly review your DNA test results.
Step 3:
In a private consultation your DNA test kit results will be reviewed with you. We will help you understand your DNA test results and what the information could mean to your nutrition health.
You will receive a Genetic Variant Nutrition Assessment report from the proprietary software that analyses Your Genomic Resource TM raw data. There will be recommendations for a custom nutrition protocol based on your unique one of a kind genetics. The nutrition protocol will supplement missing nutrients and antioxidants, or use nutrients to aid in the production of necessary enzymes to ultimately reduce damaging oxidants and support healthy cells. We may also make other recommendation that could include dietary changes or nutrition detoxification programs.

Separate from this consultation are follow up appointments:
We will follow up with you to monitor your progress and make changes as needed. It is often necessary to proceed through different phases of nutrition support until you get to a maintenance regiment. Genetic nutrition is not a one and done process, it is multi faceted and complex. The simple saliva test used by our office measures 602,000 pieces of your DNA.
Genetic variants (DNA flaws - we all have them) can impact your ability to make and use different nutrients.
